parkinglotangel: (badass angel)
A lot of the time, Michael knows what's coming. Call it precognition, call it insight, call it whatever you want, but he just does. He knows if you're going to get a flat tire or be a jerk to your friends. Chances are he won't actually stop it directly, but he might use it to his advantage or meddle in the outcome a little. The result should be positive in the long run, whatever the action.

Use this post for plotting or pointing me towards something Michael can know about ahead of time. Obviously, in RP, most things aren't planned ahead of time, but in the event that you do, leave a comment here so Michael can meddle.

Being a divine agent, Michael has an insane amount of insight into people, which is probably part natural intuition from watching people for centuries, and an actual supernatural ability to know a person's past.

He also tends to know the future, but that's a different issue. Plotting for that goes here.

So, this is pretty simple, post here to let me know what Michael can innately know about your character's past, if anything.

IN-CHARACTER:
Character name: Michael
Character journal: [personal profile] parkinglotangel
Series name: Michael (1996 film)
Canon notes: Just after he gets to Chicago

History: He's literally the biblical archangel in terms of background deeds and history, but he's really from this.

Personality: Michael isn't what you'd expect from an angel. He drinks, he smokes, he has questionable grooming habits and table manners, puts enormous amounts of sugar on almost everything he eats, and even has sex. The fact of the matter is that, as a celestial creature, it's implied that he cannot enjoy these mortal indulgences when he's in Heaven. He has a deep love of everything earthly, from the feel of the wind on his face, to food, to feats of human engineering both mundane and bizarre, and he takes advantage of those things whenever he can. Michael is good-natured and friendly, and loves to laugh. His sense of humor ranges from vaguely trollish to bad puns. He is perpetually vague about heavenly matters, and quotes parables and song lyrics instead of Bible scripture. Michael has a huge ego, and takes pride in his own accomplishments, most of which involve battles. He is, after all, an archangel. He is the one who fought Lucifer and threw him out of heaven. He enjoys struggle and combat, and often picks fights whenever he sees an opportunity to do so. If he picks a fight with someone less capable than him, he'll give them ample opportunity to get in a some swings. That said, he is still an angel, and while Michael isn't as morally upright as one would think, he is still a very good person. He's difficult, cryptic, and manipulative a lot of the time, but it's generally in order to help people.

Abilities: Canon isn't very specific on his abilities because it's a silly romantic comedy, but it's fairly obvious that, as an angel, he's literally superhuman. He's incredibly strong and incredibly resistant to physical damage. He full on charges and head-butts a bull and wins, and comes out only a little bit dizzy and without a scratch. He has wings which he can presumably use to fly, but he doesn't (at least in the movie).

Ordinarily, he'd have access to miracles, which can do all those fancy angelic things you'd read about like razing buildings and raising people from the dead, but since he used his last one (angels apparently have a set limit of these deeds, no matter the size), that won't be an issue.

He also seems to exhibit the ability to predict the future, but whether this is inherent to him or because he's plugged into God is unclear. Since knowing everything that's going to happen is impractical or impossible in a game setting, this will be limited to pre-plotted, permissions-based instances. On a related note, he also seems to know secrets about anyone he meets (hidden agendas, secret skills, general history), but again it's unclear how much of this is God and how much is him. Accordingly, this will be handled the same way as his precognition.

Finally, he also seems to have a pheromone-like quality where he smells attractive to other people. The wiki note is misleading. He doesn't smell like cookies, exactly; he smells like any positively-associated scent to anyone (though generally something sweet). It's strongest to those who are attracted to him, and those attracted to him are unconsciously drawn to him. This isn't mind control, but it's a very strong pull for some people, albeit resistible. He also seems to be able to turn this off in regards to certain people, if he wants to.
Augment Skillset: Civilian Personnel Support.
Sample: Meme thread here, but if that's not enough:

[There's no video at first. Just the rustle of cloth and a man's voice] Well now, what do we have here? [It's sing-song and amused rather than irritated or worried, and after some haphazard button pressing a face comes into frame, dark hair wild and mouth smiling] Well, I'll be a space monkey's uncle. [He laughs uproariously at his own joke for a minute.]

Television's come a long way from what I remember. I don't know exactly why I'm here, but I'm interested. Sounds like fun. People need to have more fun. [He gestures at the camera, grinning, then lapses into a thoughtful expression.]

Just one question. Where can I get some smokes?
